The Sunderland Branch of NARPO

has been raising funds. Ken Barker,

who is an executive member of the branch

and also a referee has been using his

connections to raise funds for the

benefit of PC David Rathband's

Blue Lamp Foundation. David was

left blinded, the victim of

a callous criminal who shot him in

the face.

Foundation's aims are to provide

financial support for members of the

emergency services who are may be

faced with financial hardship if they

become victims of a criminal attack

whilst they are on duty.

The cheque for £955 (above) comprised donations from Northumbria Narpo branches (£755) and £200 from the Sunderland AFC Senior Supporters' Association. Ken Barker, vice chairman of the Sunderland Referees' Society, executive  member of his Narpo branch and chairman of the Senior Supporters' Association was directed by his local branch to contact others and co-ordinate the fund raising, accumulating a final total of £1449. A good show all round.
